Sivko in Love (amigurumi pattern)

Croatian handmade magazine Do!ts asked me if I could did some amigurumi pattern in their second edition (Valentine’s day edition). I said „Yes“ just like I said it to hubby 14 years ago. And though I got married on Valentine’s day I am so not romantic kind of human, but little amigurumi for V day is more than OK!

You can see tutorial for Sivko in croatian on pages 86 - 87 of Do!ts and I’m using my blog to write it in english as well!

Materijal needed: main yarn for Sivko (Sivko – name from adjective grey), 2,5mm hook, eyes buttons, stuffing, heart shaped button, contrasting yarn

Crocheting knowledge: Magic Loop (ML)
                               single crochet (sc)
                               increasing
                               decreasing

Sivko is worked top-down, in continuous rounds – no joining, no slip sts, no turning work. However, you will have to mark either first or last stitch of current round!

Let’s start!

1.R.: 6 sc in ML
2.R.: 2 sc in each sc – 12 sts
3.R.: *sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc* - repeat 5 more times – 18 sts
4.R.: *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc* - repeat 5 more times – 24 sts
5.R.: *sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc* - repeat 5 more times – 30 sts
6.R.: *sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc* - repeat 5 more times – 36 sts

7.-12.R.: sc in each sc

Attach the eyes:

13.R.: *sc in next 4 sc, sc 2tog in next sc* - repeat 5 more times – 30 sts
14.R.: *sc in next 3 sc, sc 2tog in next sc* - repeat 5 more times – 24 sts
15.R.: *sc in next 2 sc, sc 2tog in next sc* - repeat 5 more times – 18 sts
16.R.: *sc in next 4 sc, sc 2tog in next sc*- repeat 2 more times  - 15 sts

17.-18.R.: sc in each sc

19.R.: *sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc* - repeat 2 more times – 18 sts
20.R.: sc in each sc
21.R.: *sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc* - repeat 2 more times – 21 sts
22.R.: *sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc* - repeat 2 more times – 24 sts

23.-28.R.: sc in each sc

Sew on heart shaped button:

29.R.: *sc in next 2 sc, sc 2tog in next sc* - repeat 5 more times – 18 sts
30.R.: *sc in next  sc, sc 2tog in next sc* - repeat 5 more times – 12 sts
31.R.: sc 2tog around – 6 sts

Leave long enough thread to sew open.

ARMS: 1.R.: 6sc in ML
2.R.: *sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc* - one more time – 8 sts
          3.-6.R.: sc in each sc

LEGS: 1.R.: 6sc in ML
         2.R.: 2 sc in each sc – 12 sts
         3.-4.R.: sc in each sc

Sew arms on body (no need to stuf them).
Stuff legs and fix them in place the best you can- use pins.
If you wanna Sivko’s tummy to look fuller – sew his legs better in back.

Cut 3 times 15cm of main yarn, pull it through the top of Sivko’s head:

and knot it! (cut excess off)

Cut 3 times 25 cm of contrasting yarn, wrap it around Sivko’s neck and tie it!

You can love Sivko just the way he is, you can  make him girlfriend or you can use his as pendant (as shown on first pic)!

NOTE: since Sivko is nothing new, nothing inovating, nothing spectacular  - no need to bother you with copyrights and all other yada yadas! So be free to do what ever you want with this tutorial!

Sunflower tutorial - reblogged

(This tutorial is reblogged from my previous blog due to several Ravelry requests - old link didn’t wanna open)

*I promise that I’ll never again will be complain about any other tutorial because now I know how hard and frustrating it can be to write one!*

*Pictures overloaded!*

OK, enough of fooling around – I’m about to write my very first tutorial – CROCHET SUNFLOWER!

   What UR gonna need:

-brown and sunny yellow yarn (I used cotton ones)

Sunflower tutorial

   -3mm and 4mm hooks

   What U must know:

   -Magic Loop (ML)
   -Slip stitch (sl st)
   -Half Double Stitch (hd)
   -Puff stitches (puff)
   -Chain (ch)

(NOTE: I will be linking almost all of the techniques/stitches as I’m explaining)

Start with 3mm hook, ML and ch2:

Sunflower tutorial

Make 10hd sts in the ML

Sunflower tutorial

sl st at the first hd:

Sunflower tutorial

   Round one done!

Round two is all about puff stitches done in every stitch from previous round.
Also instead od having 7 loops on you hook (as it was shown in the link) – I used (only) 5!

Sunflower tutorial

Yarn over the hook and draw it through all 5 loops:

Secure that bunch of loops with a chain:

Sunflower tutorial

   Repeat 9 more time!

Since this is the last round with brown yarn I don’t like using sl st to join the circle, but I cut the yarn and pull it:

Sunflower tutorial

Thread the needle and insert it under the both loops of the first puff stitch:

Sunflower tutorial

Then draw the yarn through and insert the needle in back loops of the last puff stitch

Sunflower tutorial Sunflower tutorial

pull it and adjust the tension – you have invisible join:

Now is time for sunny yellow and nothing but chain stitches. This part is easy-peasy, believe me!

NOTE: you are crocheting two layers of sunflower both using front and back loops of previous round!

Attach/join the yallow yarn in any front loop:

Sunflower tutorial

Ch5, sl st in the same loop
*sl st in next (front) loop, ch5, sl st in the same loop*

Sunflower tutorial

(repeat *   * till the last loop)

Sunflower tutorial

Now you are about to start second layer, by using back loops of stitches from previous round. Also change to 4mm hook:

Sunflower tutorial

Sl st, ch6, sl st int he same loop
*sl st in next (back) loop, ch6, sl st in the same loop*
(Repeat *   * till  the last loop)

Sunflower tutorial

Cut the yarn, weave in the ends and attach the flower on brooch pin, hair band, hair pin or just sew it where ever you like!

Sunflower tutorial

Hope it was clear and understandable enough! If not – be free to ask!
